Why I Switched from React to Astro for Content Sites

React is my go-to for interactive applications, but for content-heavy sites — blogs, portfolios, marketing pages — I’ve moved to Astro and I’m not looking back.

The Performance Problem

A typical React site ships 40–100KB of JavaScript before rendering a single pixel. For a blog, that’s wasteful. Astro ships zero JavaScript by default, only hydrating components that actually need interactivity.

The Developer Experience

Astro’s component syntax will feel immediately familiar if you know React or Vue. The Islands Architecture is intuitive once you understand it.
